Ralston Gudgeon, (1910-1984), Black Grouse before a Loch, gouache on paper, signed LR, framed and glazed.

Gudgeon was a gold medal winner at the Glasgow School of Art, and spent his life painting the wildlife of Scotland. The male black grouse, also known as Blackcock, displays its distinctive tail feathers in competition with other males.
