Mabel Kingwell (1890-1924) water colour on paper of two wild moorland ponies, a bay and a chestnut, one drinking from a stream, in a moorland landscape, possibly Dartmoor. Kingwell was a West Country artist, and particularly successful at capturing the spirit and colour of the local wild ponies. Her lightness of touch and use of natural colours is completely in keeping with the English water colour tradition, but her unique style is unmistakbly her own.
