Fresh to Market: Frances Mabel Hollams, a fine example from an impeccable source

24th November 2020

A fine example from the popular and distinctive painter of horses, Frances Mabel Hollams, has been consigned for sale following the sale of a local country house.  The picture came from the estate of the late Captain Charles Radclyffe, who was well known in the world of horse racing and fox-hunting in the second half of the C20th.  From his stables near Witney, Captain Radclyffe trained thoroughbred racehorses to make the transition from flat racing to National Hunt (jump) racing, and many leading owners and trainers sent horses his way, including Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, who was a keen and very successful owner of jumpers.
